John Phillips
From the Human Resources Team
John Phillips has been a proud and dedicated member of the Oregon City School District (OCSD) community for over 60 years. A 1976 graduate of Oregon City High School (Jackson Campus), John’s educational journey began at Park Place and Holcomb Elementary Schools, continued through Ogden Middle School (now Tumwata Middle School), and culminated at OCHS.In 1978, John began his career with OCSD as a night sweeper at Moss Junior High. He soon transitioned into a role as courier, custodian, and warehouse staff. It was during his time as a courier that John discovered a newfound confidence, realizing he was no longer shy and could connect with others with ease—something that became a hallmark of his professional life. Although his duties have shifted over the years, John has continued to provide unwavering support and service to the students, staff, and community of Oregon City. Over his remarkable 46-year career, he has not only served the district with dedication but also been a tireless advocate for classified staff. He was deeply involved with the Oregon School Employees Association, serving as Union President and continuing his support as a union representative. To John, OCSD is more than a workplace—it’s an extended family. His deep roots in the community are further reflected by the fact that his children and grandchildren have also been part of the OCSD family as students.
