Julie Peters
Julie’s legacy of service in Oregon City is both remarkable and enduring. She broke barriers as the first woman to become a member of the Oregon City Rotary Club, where she went on to serve as the Service Chair for ten years. Her leadership helped support countless projects—from fundraising for football programs and band uniforms to the beloved tradition of making elephant ears at Friday night games. Julie also opened her home and heart to five Rotary-sponsored high school exchange students over the years.
Her deep commitment to education is reflected in her service on multiple PTO and PTA boards, her time as a Cub Scout leader, and her ongoing support of OC schools through countless initiatives. As a past president of the Oregon City School Foundation, she was instrumental in bringing Smart Boards into classrooms and leading annual auctions that raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local schools.
Julie played a vital role in the successful 2000 campaign for the $67.5 million school bond that led to the construction of the new high school, serving as financial secretary for the Friends of OC Committee. She has continued that service in her current role as financial secretary for the group 100 Women Who Care.
Her passion for youth extends to a wide range of local programs, including Outdoor School, OC Wrestling, Youth Sports, Baseball, Cheer & Dance, DECA, OC Football, and the OCHS Weight Room Project. She’s currently working with JROTC to support their upcoming Europe trip.
Julie’s contributions also include a decade on the board of Angels in the Outfield, where she served as treasurer, and active membership in the Oregon City Women’s Club, leading and supporting fundraising efforts.
A Paul Harris Fellow and quiet force behind the scenes, Julie has given tirelessly of her time, resources, and energy. This list only begins to reflect the full scope of her impact—she has touched nearly every corner of the Oregon City community and continues to do so with humility, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to others.
