Skylar Delaunay Presented with Citizen Life Saving Award from Clackamas Fire District
In an emotional and powerful moment during Gardiner Middle School’s 7th grade lunch, Clackamas Fire District #1 Crew from Station 15 presented Skylar Delaunay with the Citizen Life Saving Award and a Challenge Coin in recognition of his heroic actions that helped save his brother’s life.
On the morning of March 7, Skylar noticed that his brother Jesse—who lives with cerebral palsy and epilepsy—was breathing abnormally and appeared to be in distress. Acting quickly, Skylar alerted his parents, who immediately began CPR while calling 911. Clackamas Fire and AMR crews responded and rushed Jesse to the hospital.
According to Clackamas Fire, if it weren’t for Skylar’s quick thinking and calm under pressure, Jesse might not be here today.
Skylar’s courage and love for his brother are an inspiration to all of us. We are so proud to celebrate this incredible act of bravery and deeply grateful to Clackamas Fire for honoring one of our own students with such a meaningful award.
