Thank you PTO for bringing OMSI's “Electrifying Activities” to 5th graders today! Ms. McQueen told me, "Students explored circuits, batteries, bulbs, and motors to learn about the generation and transmission of electricity. We even investigated Van de Graaff generators which literally made our hair stand on end!" The kids explained to me that these machines generate static electricity from belts and rollers that create massive amounts of friction. We all learned some cool things today.💡

Classified, You're our superheroes! This week is Classified School Employees Week, and we are taking a moment to celebrate the incredible individuals who are the essential support system at Gaffney Lane!

What’s better than a good book? Sharing it with a new friend! Our students got to celebrate Read Across America today! Our school was filled with with special guests, cozy groups, and incredible stories. We are so grateful to our community volunteers who stopped by to read to our students and spark their imaginations!
Second graders enjoyed a field trip to Dr. Haskett Orthodontics. Students got to learn about X-rays, making molds of teeth, and general dental hygiene. What a great experience! Thank you, Dr. Haskett and all your professionals who helped to make this experience so positive for our students.

¡Todos Unidos! is a K–12 pathway that begins at Candy Lane Elementary, where students learn to read, write, speak, and listen in both Spanish and English while meeting grade-level academic standards. The program supports strong academics, cultural understanding, and bilingualism from an early age.

Families who are interested must enter the lottery to be considered for placement. Our lottery is now open and will run through April 1, so don't wait!

The Olympic Events bring so much excitement to GL! Today’s events included Speed Skating and Skeleton relays. We're convinced we have some future Olympians here at Gaffney Lane.🥌⛸️🎿⛷️🥇🥈🥉
One word two pictures! Ms. McQueen told me, “5th graders tackled homographs, words that are spelled the same but have different meetings. The students had a blast drawing out both definitions for our semantics work!” I’m content with this content.🤩
Team Gaffney Lane is continuing with the Olympics theme in PE! This week athletes participated in curling, ski jumping, bobsledding, and hockey. We may have some future Olympians! GO TEAM! ⛷️🛷🏒
