UPDATED POST with date correction
Holcomb 4th and 5th Grade Parents/Guardians -
From Mr. Mead, our Holcomb Elementary Music teacher:
On May 28th, join us for an evening of music performances at Holcomb Elementary School's Spring Concert! Our 4th and 5th grade students have been diligently honing their talents in their music classes and they're thrilled to showcase their skills through "Time Travel" themed musical numbers.
Here's a glimpse of our concert schedule:
5:30 p.m. - Arrive at Tumwata Middle School and enter the Auditorium. Students will sit with their classes and families will find available seats.
5:45 p.m. - Performance begins.
6:30 p.m. - End of performance. Families will connect with students and teachers for dismissal.
We kindly request our supportive families assist us in managing limited parking by limiting attendance to 4 audience members per family and considering carpooling arrangements where possible. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
Let's come together to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our talented students. We look forward to seeing you at Tumwata Middle School for Holcomb Elementary School's Spring Concert on Thursday, May 28th!
*Students who are performing should arrive at Tumwata at 5:30 pm dressed and ready. Students and audience members are welcome to dress in the style of "time travel" fashion, however, it is not required. (Medieval, Country Western, 60's Rock and Roll, Futuristic outfits are all fun options) School appropriate "dress attire" is absolutely acceptable as well!
Thanks!

Did you know? Every OCSD student a library that goes wherever they go?
Oregon City School District provides every student free access to Sora, a digital library app designed specifically for K–12 learners. Whether your student is a confident reader, still building their skills, or somewhere in between, Sora has something for them — and the tools to help them grow.
Here's what's waiting for your family
📚 A library built for them: Ebooks, audiobooks, picture books, read-alongs, and graphic novels — all hand-selected and age-appropriate for all our readers.
🏠 Access anywhere, anytime: Sora works on phones, tablets, and computers. Books are available 24/7 — no library hours, no late fees, no lost books.
🌎 Books in their language: The app is available in 13 languages and includes bilingual titles and world language books, so every family can engage with reading in the language that works best for them.
👁️ Built for every kind of reader: Adjustable text size, dyslexic-friendly fonts, high contrast display, and a read-aloud feature that highlights words as they're spoken — Sora meets your student where they are.
🏅 Motivation built in: Daily reading goals, progress tracking, and achievement badges make reading fun and engaging!
🏙️ Two libraries in one: Through our partnership with Oregon City Public Library, your student's student library card also unlocks OCPL's digital collection inside Sora — even more books, same app, no extra steps.
Select the Oregon City School District, log in with your student's Classlink, and start exploring today.
📚 Download Sora for free wherever you get your apps.

Let's talk about what "being here" does for our students. 📈
Students who attend school each day:
Earn higher grades and test scores - these look great on job applications, apprenticeship applications, college applications, etc.
Build stronger friendships and social connections - a strong support system helps students thrive
Feel more confident and engaged in learning - making learning connections stronger
Have better career and college opportunities - see the first three points!
We're here to support students. If you or your student needs support in attendance (or otherwise), OCSD offers counseling services for students, family resource supports, and staff who care. Please reach out to your school for more information on accessing these supports.
Show up. Level up. We're cheering for you every single day.

Holcomb Spirit Wear Spring window is now OPEN! We have both the black/red and red/white options available. Orders will be delivered by May 11th, in time for end of the year celebrations and Field Day.

Spring Picture Day is Coming to Holcomb Elementary on April 7th! All orders for individual spring pictures must be placed before 9:00 AM on picture day. Only students with an order will be photographed individually.
Quick and Easy Online Ordering! Spring picture day information, online ordering, and our customer advocate team are all at your fingertips. Scan the QR code or visit mydorian.com, search for your school, and click on the green Order button or yellow Help button associated with your spring picture day.
Here are some helpful tips to make spring picture day great!
Plan haircuts early - Schedule haircuts 7-10 days before picture day for a natural, fresh look.
Keep outfits simple - Solid colors or small patterns work best. Sleeves and classic collared shirts always photograph well.
Avoid logos and text - Avoid clothing with graphics or writing—these may be partially cropped in the final image.

We are planning a festive week for our teachers and staff the week of April 13th - 17th. Donate today to buy a coffee and a taco for staff members during Teacher Appreciation Week! You can leave a message for the staff when making the donation or email us at holcombpta@gmail.com and we will be sure to share it with them.
