In a stunning display of discipline, precision, and academic prowess, the local High School JROTC program delivered a powerhouse performance at the Washington High School Competition held on Saturday, February 28, 2026. The battalion secured top honors across multiple categories, cementing their reputation as one of the premier programs in the region.
Drill and Color Guard Excellence
The program’s Color Guard and Drill teams were the stars of the day, sweeping several of the most competitive categories. Color Guard Team 2 took home the coveted 1st Place trophy, with Commander Taylor Arnold also earning 1st Place for individual command excellence. Not far behind, Color Guard Team 1 secured a strong 2nd Place finish, while their leader, Commander Reese Wenker, was recognized as the 1st Place commander in their division.
The Unarmed Drill Team continued the winning streak, capturing 1st Place overall. The team was led by Commander Michael Perez Adan, whose exceptional leadership earned him the 1st Place individual commander award.
Individual and Small Team Standouts
The competition also highlighted individual skill and pair coordination:
Individual Armed Exhibition: G. Dinucci outperformed the field to take 1st Place.
Dual Unarmed Exhibition: The duo of Solarski and Taylor demonstrated impressive synchronicity, earning 2nd Place.
Unarmed Drill Down: N. Sorenson showcased sharp reflexes and discipline, placing 3rd in a high-pressure elimination round.
Academics and Marksmanship
The battalion proved they are as sharp in the classroom as they are on the drill floor. The Academic Team secured a 3rd Place finish, bolstered by C. Solarski, who achieved the 3rd highest individual test score of the entire competition.
On the range, Michael Perez Adan added to his trophy haul for the day, placing 3rd in the Precision Air Rifle category, proving his versatility as both a drill commander and a marksman.
