Keeping our Schools Safe

Student safety and security is a continual top priority for the staff at Oregon City School District.  We use several strategies to meet our goals for student safety and security. These include the following:

We require all visitors and volunteers to sign-in at the office and wear a badge whenever they are in the building.

All volunteers are required to complete annual background checks.

All exterior doors are closed and locked during the school day.

All changes to a student's transportation plan must be communicated to the office and verified.

Schools practice safety drills each month. This includes a combination of fire, earthquake, and lockdown drills.

Fire Drills with Evacuation are practiced once a month.

Earthquake Drills are practiced twice a year.

Lockdown Drills are practiced twice a year.

Secure Drills are practiced once a year.

For more information on safety drills, please see the Do the Drill resource guide from The Oregon State Fire Marshal.
