Some members of our OCSD community are four-legged — and one of them just received a major honor.
On March 7th, Benjamin Murray Nagel — better known as Benny — was inducted into the Oregon Animal Hall of Fame by the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association in Corvallis. The 7½-year-old Goldendoodle was recognized for Outstanding Professional Service as an Emotional Support Animal, and if you've ever crossed paths with Benny, you know the honor is well-deserved.
Benny has been a certified Emotional Support Animal since 2020 and has shown up to work every single day since — a steadfast, tail-wagging presence through some of the harder seasons our school community has faced. The award was presented by Dr. Lynn Healy, DVM, who spoke about the comfort and connection Benny has brought to students and staff alike, especially in the years following the pandemic when everyone needed a little extra warmth.
For those who haven't had the pleasure: Benny is basically district-famous, and now it's official.
Congratulations, Benny. You've earned every belly rub. 🐾
