🎉 Big day at Holcomb Elementary!
This morning, we broke ground at Holcomb Elementary for our phase 2 bond projects— and we couldn't be more excited for what's ahead.
Holcomb Elementary's current building has served Oregon City families since 1966. Sixty years later, it's time for a refresh — and thanks to the 2025 Bond, Holcomb is getting safety and security enhancements, essential infrastructure updates including new roofs, plumbing, flooring, windows, electrical systems, and HVAC, accessibility improvements, and updated classrooms and learning spaces.
Bremik Construction was selected as the construction manager/general contractor for the Holcomb project, and we're happy to partner with a team that shares our commitment to our students and the community.
This is a Phase 2 project under the 2025 Bond — made possible because Oregon City voters said yes to investing in our schools. 🏗️💛

As we near graduation, we want to highlight some of our "behind the scenes" efforts.
This spring, our bilingual programs TOSA, Sra. Kelly Gavrich, partnered with Juntos to offer a five-week workshop series in Spanish at Oregon City High School for 9th and 10th grade students and their families. Across our 2 hour sessions in April and May, families dug into the questions that shape a student's path forward: What does it take to graduate? What options come after high school? And how does financial aid actually work?
Between 20 and 25 students and parents joined us each week — asking great questions, doing real planning, building community connections.
We believe that every family should have clear, accessible information about their student's future, When families have the tools to plan early, students walk into 11th and 12th grade with more options, more confidence, and a roadmap they helped build together.
A heartfelt thank you to the families who showed up week after week, to our partners at Juntos, and to the OCHS staff who made these evenings possible. Your time, your trust, and your investment in your students' futures is so important.

We received 11 proposals for our phase 3 CM/GCs on Tuesday! As reminder, our phase 3 schools are Beavercreek Elementary, Gaffney Lane Elementary, and Redland Elementary. We will be working through scoring them, interviewing, and making selections in the upcoming weeks and we look forward to announcing who was selected. Thank you to all those who applied!
Our 5th graders didn't just learn about the working world last week — they were able to "live" it. 🏙️💼
Students traveled to Portland to experience JA BizTown, an immersive, hands-on facility where kids run real businesses, manage personal finances, and discover what it means to be an entrepreneur.
This is our strategic plan priority of career readiness in action! Students were abel to participate in hands on learning, not a worksheet, not a lecture, but students actively making decisions, solving problems, and seeing firsthand how what they're learning in the classroom connects to the real world waiting for them.
We love watching our learners be Here for it, step up, and get a glimpse of the incredible futures ahead of them. 🌟
But at ¡Todos Unidos! at Candy Lane, these lessons don't stop at science. 🧪🧬
✍🏽Students are writing letters to pen pals in Mexico. While they are learning about the migration and lives of birds, they are also developing their spanish language skills, connecting with another culture, and experiencing what it means to connect with someone halfway across the continent. The same birds that fly over Oregon City land in communities in Mexico. And now, so do their thoughts, and ideas! 🐦⬛🪶🌎
On May 28th, 4th graders will participate in a Celebración — sharing bird reports they've researched and written as the culmination of this year's work at Candy Lane's annual Mercardito.
Behind every one of those years are students who've felt seen and connected, a family who felt supported, and a school community made stronger. Each and every one has made a lasting impact.
Thank you to our retirees for everything you've given to our district. You will be missed, but we're excited for your next chapter in your journey!
With the help of their superstar advisors, they created a video to help educate their school community about bias and what it means to create spaces where everyone belongs. This video will be shown school wide in the upcoming weeks. We'll share it here as well once they've had a chance to share it with their community first.

We have three fantastic nurses here in our district. They support our students in so many ways.
Our school nurses manage complex health plans, advocate for student wellbeing, and show up for kids in the most human ways every single day. They are caregivers, problem-solvers, and someone a student can turn to when something doesn't feel right.

The field at Oregon City High School is officially open — and it is awesome! Our outdoor learning spaces are are now able to be used year round (and without large puddles of standing water. or ducks!)
This project is part of the 2025 Bond, a investment our community made together in the future of our students and schools. And today, you can see exactly what that investment looks like: a beautiful, functional space where our students will practice, compete, and learn for years to come.
Yesterday, Clackamas Fire visited CAIS to present students Elyjah and Blake with Life Saving Awards and challenge coins after the two acted quickly to extinguish a fire in the Welding Shop before Spring Break. Their training kicked in right away — and because of that, a scary moment became a story about two students who knew exactly what to do.
The Fire Inspector was so impressed that he came back just to honor them.
